R+L Carriers Opens New Iowa Service Center
10/24/2023 Ohio-based transportation company R+L Carriers announced the opening of a new service center in Eldridge, Iowa, earlier this week. This new facility relocates the operations previously held at the companys Davenport terminal, just four miles south of the Eldridge location.
The service center is located at 300 Slopertown Road, with the nearby Interstate 80 providing access to surrounding markets. Coming in at nearly 79,000 square feet, the structure sits on 43 acres of land. It debuts with 100 freight dock doors, a five-bay maintenance facility, a three-lane fuel island, and 4,200 feet of office space. With more dock doors and operational space than the Davenport location, the new service center will aid in increasing on-time service levels as well as overall LTL capacity well into the future to support this growing market.
R+L Carriers maintains a robust linehaul network connecting our Midwest operations to those in the Western states, said Greg Bronner, R+L Carriers VP of Marketing and Business Critical Sales. The new Eldridge facility serves as a critical juncture between our Chicago and Springfield, Illinois, service centers, along with routes coming out of Wisconsin from the northeast and continuing through Des Moines, Iowa. With its increased capacity, compared to the previous facility, we hope to service more customers in and around the cities of Cedar Rapids and Eldridge, as well as surrounding states.
Employees previously based out of the Davenport location now report to the Eldridge service center. Additionally, the new facility has more space to accommodate additional drivers, dock workers, and office staff as business continues to grow in the region.
